We Keep Your Child’s Smile
Healthy and Strong

BUILDING HEALTHY SMILES FROM THE START

Regular dental visits are just as important as pediatric checkups. They help us catch issues early, prevent cavities, and support healthy development.

First Tooth,
First Visit

We recommend your child’s first dental visit by age 1 or when the first tooth appears. Early visits focus on prevention, education, and comfort, setting the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Nutritional Counseling

An important part of your child’s dental visit is providing parents with information about what specific foods are more cavity causing than others. We hear the frustration from parents: How does my child have several cavities when we eat great nutritious food? We will surprise you as to the number of foods that seem great for children to consume that are loaded with simple sugars! Find more nutritional tips here.

Here are a few cavity causing foods that seem healthy….

  • Dried fruits such as raisins or freeze dried fruits such as banana chips

  • Flavored yogurts or yogurt pouches

  • No sugar added fruit juices

  • Chocolate milk

  • Pediasure

Fluoride Treatments

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association both recommend the use of fluoride containing products, including twice per year applications of a fluoride treatment to strengthen the outer enamel structure to prevent tooth decay. Common everyday drinks and foods allow for the bacteria in the mouth to release acids that breakdown the enamel structure. Fluoride ions strengthen the enamel layer of the tooth structure by penetrating the very outer layer and sticking to the calcium layer of the enamel structure.

Our office proudly uses Enamelast, a brand of fluoride varnish manufactured by Ultradent. It is manufactured in the United States and is FDA approved. Sweetened with Xylitol, it is nut free, Casein free, gluten free and free of most other allergens.

What are the advantages of our Fluoride Varnish?

  • Proven efficacy in studies vs. conventional fluoride

  • Long acting (over hours rather than minutes)

  • Quickly & easily applied using a brush

  • Taste tolerated well by most children

  • Free of most common allergens

  • Nearly invisible appearance

Prescription Toothpaste

Colgate’s President 500 toothpaste is an enamel strengthening prescription toothpaste that helps prevent dental caries and strengthen sensitive teeth. It is available for use in our older patients with a history of severe cavities or during their orthodontic (braces) treatment, to avoid unsightly enamel decalcification markings. This prescription toothpaste is used twice daily under supervision, unless we recommend otherwise.
