Expectant Mothers & Brushing Info
Here are some tips on how to keep that little smile healthy from the start!
A Few Tips:
The best way to spot signs of problems is to bring your baby in for a dental check-up as soon as teeth appear or by his or her first birthday.
Wipe your baby’s gums with a soft, clean cloth after feedings and at bedtime.
This helps wipe away milk sugar and bacteria that together can cause cavities on erupted teeth.
After nursing, dip your clean hands into a warm glass of water and gently move around the mouth and cheeks to wipe away existing breast milk.
Alternatively, if teeth are present, dip a small small toothbrush into warm water and gently brush his or her teeth & repeat.
After bottle feeding, encourage your child to drink water (using a different bottle) at the same temperature as the milk to wash away existing milk.
Limit pacifier use as much as possible! We know this is difficult, however, very important for proper maxillofacial growth & development.
